Guru Sivayogi — The Living Enlightened Master
Guru Sivayogi is regarded as the only living Enlightened Master today—a mystic who has seen the Divine and now guides others to the same realization through a powerful practice known as Guru Upadesam. With sincere practice, seekers often report the opening of the third eye within just 40 days.
The Seer Who Awakens Humanity
Sivayogi Sivakumar, born in 1968 and based in Puthagaram, Chennai, attained enlightenment in 2002. After four years of introspection, he founded Yogakudil in 2006—a sanctuary for seekers of truth.
‘Yogakudil’ symbolizes the human body as a divine temple. Starting as a small hut, it has grown into a four-story center in Chennai and a peaceful commune in Veerasikkampatti near Dindigul. An international branch also operates in Singapore:

Teachings and Practice
Sivayogi distills timeless wisdom into three core concepts and five practical exercises. These lead to real transformation—not just intellectual understanding. Common experiences reported include:
- நெற்றிக்கண் விழிப்புணர்வு (Third eye opening)
- வெளிச்ச உடம்பின் வளர்ச்சி (Aura development)
- நாதனின் நாதம் கேட்பது (Hearing the “soundless sound”)
- உள்ளொளி (Seeing inner light)
- வெட்டவெளியை உணர்வது (Realizing the emptiness of existence)
He boldly proclaims: “God exists as Space.”
Background and Journey
Coming from a humble background, Sivayogi earned degrees in M.A Tamil Literature and M.Sc. Psychology. He worked at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai before retiring in 2017 to dedicate himself to spiritual service. His turning point came through the works of Sivavakkiyar, whom he reveres as his true Guru.
Books and Programs
He has authored several transformative books, including:
- நன்றியுணர்வு (Gratitude)
- துன்பம் உனக்கில்லை (No Suffering for You)
- நீ தான் கடவுள் (You Are God)
- யோககுடில் (Yogakudil)
- கடவுள் (God)
- வழிகாட்டி (உபதேசம் பெற்றவர்களுக்கு மட்டும்) (Guide (exclusive for Upadesam recipients))
He has also written commentaries on the Thirukkural, Thirumanthiram (Sivagamam), and Kaivalya Navaneetham. His Tamil prose is both classical and accessible.
Programs he conducts include:
- ஆனந்த வாழ்வு (Happy Life)
- நிமிர்ந்து நில் (Stand Upright)
- பார்த்து பழகு (Interact Carefully)
- ஊக்கமது கைவிடேல் (Never Give Up Enthusiasm)
- காலம் உன் கையில் (Time in Your Hands)
- எனக்காக நாற்பது நாட்கள் (Forty Days for Me) – a residential course in Dindigul
Receiving Upadesam
Anyone aged 12 and above—regardless of religion, caste, or nationality—can receive Upadesam. The only requirement: a genuine wish to see joy in others and contribute positively to humanity.
Fees exist to sustain the teaching model, but options are provided for every economic background. Work exchange and subsidized Satsang-based pathways are available.
Controversies and Clarity
Like all awakened beings, Sivayogi has faced resistance. Charges under the Goondas Act were dropped; other cases are pending resolution. His straightforwardness often draws both praise and criticism. He maintains: “I don’t sell God. I charge for teaching the path to realize Him.”
Experiences and Satsangs
Many seekers, including elders, testify to real inner experiences post-initiation. His weekly Satsang—every Sunday, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Yogakudil—is free and includes Q&A, deep discourses, and a community dinner.
Final Words
He often affirms: “You are special. God resides in you. What happened to me will happen to you.”
